Purgatory in the Morning

Wuttipol "Dome" Khirin

At Clint Detention Center

they gave me a blan-         ket and a mattress,
then, in this palace           at 3,
the guards of madness       took our
precious, they're beastly,    mattress and blanket, while my baby
almost lost power             sleeping on the floor.

Wuttipol "Dome" Khirin: "I'm a genderqueer feminist poet of color. I live in Tucson, Arizona, with roots in Bangkok, Thailand where I taught Comparative Literature and conducted Post-/De-/Anti-Colonial Trans*, Non-binary, and Queer+ poetry workshops as well as other advanced poetry workshops. My poetry passionately examines the intersectionality of race, ethnicity, gender, sexuality, queer migration, colonialism, and imperialism. My works are forthcoming in Ghost City Press and Qommunicate Publishing."
